PADDLING RULES to keep you safe

There are four key agreements that must be adhered to at all times.

1. Obstacles: Never dive off a SUP board. Shallow water and submerge logs can kill or injure. We are happy for you to swim, but enter the water gently. If you fall off please limit the depth you fall in, this means do a belly flop or a starfish so you don't go in the water to deep, especially near the shore. If you are going to hit an obstacle please return to your knees, standing up at this moment is dangerous.

2. Wind: Do not use the boards in wind of an average above 25kmh. Check the forecast at weatherzone.com.au/vic/northern-country/echuca/next48hours. If you are stuck in the wind, go to your knees, if you are really struggling go to your belly, get to the shore and call 0400290718. This number can found at iWaterski.com.au. Situations requiring emergency services call 000.

3. Boats: Avoid any boats, get out of their way. Particularly house boats, they have inexperienced drivers. Paddle steamers have right of way as they are low menoverable vessels. If they are honking their horn at you, get out of the way.

4. Leg rope: The hirer must wear a legrope at all times until safely back on shore. If there is more than one person on a board, then the person without a leg rope must wear a life jacket. It is NOT a legal requirement to wear a life jacket on a SUP board as long as your leg rope is attached, at all times. You and any of your participants that you sign for must be able to swim.
